SURVIVAL / EVENTS

Blackout, events & status warnings

The official description names Full Blackout, Bloodbath and Malfunction as rare events, without publishing their chances or full effects. Read the current warning and exit status before committing to more loot, rather than assuming the event name implies a particular multiplier.

Read the Full Blackout warning

A reviewed community image shows the Full Blackout warning telling the player that the entity can see in the dark while the survivor cannot. A following scene is almost entirely dark, while the HUD remains readable. Another image shows EXIT OPEN and a green EXIT 28 m marker through the darkness.

These are useful cues for orientation. They do not measure a speed buff, damage increase, event chance or exact duration. Stay with a route you already know rather than using the warning as a reason to explore a new section with heavy loot.

Change the plan when conditions change

  1. Pause the next pickup and read the warning.
  2. Check whether the exit is sealed or open.
  3. Decide whether your known return path still works.
  4. If visibility falls, use familiar landmarks and the available exit marker.
  5. Keep enough movement and time for the journey back.

This process does not require assuming an event-specific damage or speed value. Reassess the route and your load before committing to another valuable item.

Second Life is a separate observed status

One captured HUD shows SECOND LIFE — loot worth 2.5x less while THIS RUN is $0. Its trigger and broader role are not shown. It has not been established as a fourth rare event, and the displayed reduction should not be applied to ordinary runs.

This matters when comparing pickup values: check whether a special status changes the conditions behind the number you are reading.

How often do events happen?

The official description calls them rare but gives no percentage. No round-sampling estimate is offered here, so an exact probability or countdown to the next event would be misleading.

Plan a route you can abandon safely, and read the status whenever a warning appears. The examples above come from earlier community gameplay images; current prompts remain the best reference for your round.
